Feeding the 4,000
Mark 8:1-10, Matthew 15:32-39 (NIV)
A large crowd had been with Jesus for three days and had nothing to eat. Jesus told his disciples, "I have compassion for these people. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way." The disciples said, "Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed them?" Jesus asked, "How many loaves do you have?" They answered, "Seven." Jesus took the seven loaves, gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They also had a few small fish. Everyone ate and was satisfied, and the disciples collected seven basketfuls of leftovers. Jesus' compassion is always enough to meet the need.
